It's day two of the Chicago public school teachers' strike. Hundreds of thousands of students are still waiting to start their school year.

KTBB's Garth Maier asks: should it be illegal for public school teachers to strike?

The Courts in Chicago ruled in favor of the UNION and against Scott Walker. JP are you saying you are against the U.S. Constitution and the ideas of the founding fathers of America?

Wow! I thought Wooster was out in the left field bleachers. This vane attempt at an insult only further shows you're out there with him.

(1) Teachers have been screaming for year the most influential method, according to credible studies, to improve education. Smaller class size, longer days, and more days. Taxpayers don't want to hear this, like ostriches with heads in sand, and blame the messengers. (2) Unions serve as a balance of power between labor and management and are legitimate voices of workers. (3) Teacher evaluations, as currently conceived, are not objective - they're capricious.

Ask Republicans why they do not want poor and elderly people to vote. There is not one case in the history of Texas where an illegal immigrant has voted...NOT ONE. Where are the jobs the T-Publicans promised in 2010 if we elected them to Congress....JUST ASKING? Is your employer lowering your wages and benefits but the company is making huge profits and the ceo receiving a bonus....organize a union and get your share of the profits made with your labor

"get your share of the profits" The UAW used to make the same argument back in the 70's. It sounds just as stupid now as it did then. Talk about greed and arrogance. The union leadership is more greedy than management, and they have no hesitation to make the rank and file suffer so they can reap bigger profits. Also, it isn't MY money tied up in the building, machines, inventory, etc. My share is my pay and incentives.

no every employee in America should have the right to form an employee organization or union to combat poor working conditions, wages and hours. The BOSS ISN'T ALWAYS RIGHT AND NEVER HAS THE RIGHT TO DO WHATEVER HE OR SHE WANTS TO ANOTHER HUMANBEING JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE THE BOSS.

YES - Order these UNDER PERFORMING teachers back to work, and require that they RAISE their level of performance, OR, bite the bullet and fire them all.

In this country when someone or a business negotiates the best price they can for a product or a service we call it capitalism and proudly state thats how things work here. If a business or the government is allowed to get the best deal they can make why shouldn't a person or a group (union) of people be allowed to engage in capitalism like everyone else ? You can't have it both ways.

you are correct Martin !!!!

Yes, they can have the right to strike. However, if their employer is unwilling or unable to meet their demands and the union refuses to compromise, than their employer should have the right to replace them with someone else.

ABSOLUTELY, they are paid with TAXPAYERS $$$.

OUTLAW unions and SAVE THE USA. VOTE ROMNEY/RYAN in NOVEMBER.
