GETTIG RID OF MEDICARE AND MEDICAID ARE NOT JUST TIED TO ROMNEY AND RYAN IT IS THE ENTIRE GOP IN EVERY STATE AT EVERY LEVEL.
"The Republican-controlled Legislature cut Medicaid reimbursements to doctors by a total of 2 percent in 2010 and 2011 and dramatically reduced payments for patients who qualify for both Medicaid and Medicare, the health care program for senior citizens."
Given that everyone will be given the opportunity to purchase health insurance...those who can afford it on their own and those who will need some subsidizing from the Health Care program...YES, there should be a penalty for those who opt out. Those are the people who will rush to the ER with every illness the rest of us will have to pay for...this is the fairest and most equitabe way to make health care available to ALL Americans.
The Conservative majority Supreme Court ruled that it is legal for government to collect penalties thru the IRS tax system.
Divorced deadbeat parents that won't take responsibility for their children and pay court ordered child support, are penalized by reductions in their IRS refunds. Deadbeats that won't take responsibility for their own healthcare costs, now will get the same treatment.
This new act forces people to get off the public dime, and take care of themselves and their own.
No..there are still going to be people/families that will not be able to pay some exorbitant amount of money for health care. It doesn't matter what the government says, insurance companies will still charge more for preexisting conditions & if you're overweight or bmi is too high, or you're a woman who can still have children or you smoke or..whatever. My husband's employer doesn't offer insurance & we barely make ends meet now. Not sure how we will be able to find extra money to pay for it.
I don't think it will work. Remember uninsured motorist? If they can't pay for health insurance, do they pay taxes? If they can't be held accountable (really pay the tax) then you and I will be paying for them. What about a flat tax for all...drug dealer, hookers and illegals, you purchase something you pay tax! This would be more in the government funds than what taxes are paid in and the government would have more money to fund the health care for all.
YES, why should I pay higher insurance premiums and medical cost to cover all of you who do not want to pay your medical bills or buy insurance? I JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY T-PUBLICANS ARE AGAINST SELF RESPONSIBILITY.
