They bend the ear of KTBB's Garth Maier on what's right and what's wrong with the idea

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has proposed a ban on sodas and other sugar-sweetened beverages that come in containers larger than 16 ounces.

A typical can of soda is 12 ounces, an amount allowed under the proposed ban.The typical single-serve bottle of soda is 20 ounces, more than what would be allowed to be served in restaurants, movie theaters, food trucks and ball park concession stands.

East Texans talk-back on whether size matters with KTBB's Garth Maier.

I meant that overweight people inherited their weight through their family trait, not overeating or soda.

Rattatooey,

It is entirely inappropriate for you to inject faith into this discussion. Religion has nothing to do with this ridiculousness.

Bloomberg - Dictator - Tyrant - Idiot - send him to country that actually controls most of the things you do. United Arab Emirates would be a reallly good suggestion. Not only do they control volumes that people can use - but if you like alcohol - TOO BAD - go to jail for using that. PLAYBOY and other magazines of like kind. They also will land you in custody. Am I too assume that Bloomberg is Jewish? If so he doesn't have the sense to believe in Our Lord and Savior. What Ignorance.

This man has all kinds of ideas about what is better for you. One has been his position on gun control. Now its soft drinks. Common ordinary folks just dont have enough sense to decide when to say when. This is a problem only the government can handle.

Bloomberg needs to stay out of other people business. The obesity state has to be inherited by the family, not colas & food.

Diva - I am afraid you are talking out of the wrong end of your body. Solution is simple. Cut calorie intake and lose weight. You are absolutely right in saying that politicians should take their hands off our personal freedoms. We are free to choose overeating until we have diabetes, heart failure, clogged arteries, strokes, and many more fatal conditions. Eat until you cannot stand, then get a wheelchair, paid for by, guess who, the taxpayer. EAT MORE SALADS - I CANNOT AFFORD YOUR HEALTHCARE!

diva is right and you're in agreement with her, but you apparently missed it. Our eating habits, good and bad, are inherited (actually learned) from our parents. It's we as consumers that determines what's available in the market place. Over-sized drinks exist because we've demanded 'em. If we don't want them, don't by them.
