East Texans render their own verdict on the president's legacy

Rarely does the Supreme Court have the chance to shape the economy, the health care system, the bounds of government power and a presidential race with a single decision.

Its expected ruling Thursday on the Affordable Care Act -- President Obama's signature domestic policy achievement and one that affects millions of Americans -- is such a moment.

The decision by the Supreme Court, easily the most hotly anticipated of the session, will have sweeping consequences.

What the ruling today will affirm, quality health care for the poor, gone, for minorties, gone, forthe middle class gone, seniors gone. At best we'll get marginal or minimal health care. Seniors write your wills euthanasia is in your future code named death with dignity. Of course union memberswill for a short time have coverage until the leadership feels the workers are not worthy. Fed and state employees will have coverage.

Jp read the law and the courts order before you post. you make yourself look ignorant. I hope you are not this ignorant.

Higher administration costs due to more gov't., fewer doctors, some have already left, others are opting to not enter medicine. Worse health care at higher costs may or may not be the aim of the bill, but it is already happening and will only get worse.

LOL....Administrative cost in Government agencies is far less than it is in the private sector, where did the doctors go that left....Mexico where the peso is worth less than the dollar...surly not Canada or Europe with that evil universal health care system.....Where did they go???? Doctors that opt out of medicine????? Guess they are not Doctors if they do not practice medicine are they??? ignorance

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that the law could reduce deficits modestly in the first 10 years and then much more significantly in the second decade...So why do the republicans not want to reduce deficits ??? Why do republicans not want you to know if your Doctor is receiving goodies from medical supply companies for treating you with their product even if it is deffctive??

The CBO came up with that conclusion because the numbers they were given were lies. Not false, not misleading, not in error, they were lies. There was at least two instances where the same dollars paid for two or more programs. Payments to dr.s were not included in the bill, but the bill shifts that cost to the general budget. It's Obama that does not want to reduce the deficit. He wants to spend even more money we don't have for more fed programs proven not to work.

They still stand by those #s jp and they have had plenty of time to consider all the so called evidence the republicans have submitted. It is a matter of FACT jp everything in the law is and was first the brain child of the republican party.....do a little research.

don, Since you like links, here is some good reading that may help sort through all your questions.

THERE IS NO ERROR IN MY REASONING. IT IS THE REPUBLICANS THAT WANT TO ELIMINATE THE BENEFITS THAT ARE WITHIN THE "OBAMACAR" LAW. IT IS THE GOP AND THOSE WHO AGREE WITH THEIR POSITION WHO ARE GUILTY OF FALLACIES.

Why do republicans want Americans covered by this law with pre-existing medical conditions to be without insurance? Why do republicans want children under the age of 19 to have limited benefits or be denied benefits because they had a pre-existing condition? Why would republicans not want it to be illegal for any health insurance plan to use pre-existing conditions to exclude, limit or set unrealistic rates on coverage?

I see nothing bad with any of the portions of the law reported on.....why do the republicans want to keep 2.5 million young adults from age 19 to 25 from being insured? Why would republicans want us insured Americans to have a spike in premiums that would have resulted if the high court had tossed out the individual mandate but left other requirements on insurers in place?

Why are republicans for making those of us with insurance pay for those without with higher premiums and cost ....in other words the want something for nothing ( the uninsured). I thought the republicans were all about self reliance...pay your own way. Guess that does not apply to the uninsured
