GOP candidate declines offers for talk shows, but president does plenty of "couch time"

Mitt Romney continues to decline invitations to go on major talk shows, from The View, to late night talk shows like David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel.

President Obama and the first lady love their late night talkshow appearances.

Should Romney appear on tv talk shows? East Texans answer-back to the questioned posed by our news partner; KTBB and host Garth Maier.

willard cannot, will not, and is incapable of answering any straight-out question on policies, core values, diplomatic or economic issues...he is a bought and paid for cardboard cut-out who hasn't a rational and consistent thought about anything...my father, rest his soul, had hydrocephalus, a condition that made it impossible for him to retain a thought for more than 10 minutes...without a surgical procedure, I believe willard would suffer from this condition as POTUS...not what American needs!

mitt is scared to appear because he would not have hi handelers there to give him the answers to the hard questions that would be asked. Mitt has a lot to hide from the citizens.

Obama also finds friendly turf on most if not all these shows with hosts that support him. Mitt would find them to be hostile. Not asking about his stance, but politely attacking him with Democratic retoric.

I have to agree with everybody that for Romney to appear on TV talk shows really cheapens the Presidency and he should not have to stoop to these tactics. My preference would be that he remain "presidential" and avoid these. My original point was that unfortunately, in this day and age, we have so much low-level reality shows and TV pap watched by millions of potential voters so perhaps rather than dismissing it, his appearance might resonate but professionalism and integrity usually wins.

It is not that we Mormons feel we are better than anyone else, but most Mormon males over the age of 12 hold a Priesthood of some level or another. Would you want your Pastor or Priest sitting around 'hob nobbing' with TV personalities who find vulgarity humorous? Mitt holds a Priesthood and has certain responsibilities to that Priesthood.

I can't speak for Mitt Romney, but I know as a fellow Mormon, we feel we should avoid even the appearance of wrong doing. If you have watched late nite shows, you know that improper language and innuendo are an abundant part of the conversations. To appear on these programs would seem to legitimize them, and that would legitimize vulgar language. I don't think Mitt Romney should lower himself to their standards, I would still vote for him, but I would be disappointed if he appeared.

Mitt Romney doesn't want to appear as a "celebrity president". This helps separate himself from our current president.

I think our President has more important things to do than to appear on Talk Shows. Seems like he's been doing a lot of that every since he got into office. As far as campaigning, there are better ways to get your message across than via talk shows! Seriously Mr. President!!

Mr. Romney has some class. I think it is beneath the dignity of the United States President to go on a talk show. He is a show boat! Mr. Romney isn't.

Class? willard the liar, warmonger, tax cheat, elitist, bought and paid for by koch brothers, mega-wealthy donors...class? You've just got to be kidding!! This lout lies almost every time he opens his mouth, and you vote for him why? Telling Ohioans that Jeep is going to get rid of American workers to ship the jobs to China? Refuted chapter and verse by 2 auto companies in Detroit...and your fool has class? How can you vote for this un-American, anti-democracy clown? Please tell us!!

While I think Gov Romney has more class than Pres Obama who seems to think he is a superstar worthy of Hollywood adoration, I believe not going on any Talk Shows may not be helpful to his campaign. He should appear on a couple to give his point of view and show he is a man of the people, can be conversational and laugh a little even at his own expense thus humanizing him. We have enough arrogance from our man at the top already; Romney needs to be careful not to appear pompous by his absence.

Absolutely not I believe Mitt Romney is above all that mess and does not need to get involved in the entertainment business whatsoever
