Longest stretch of jobless rate above 8% since Great Depression

Negative numbers in the latest jobs report has both sides of the aisle scrambling for answers. East Texans asked by our news partner: KTBB and host Garth Maier: which party is better at creating jobs?

Other than getting the heck out of the way, political parties have no place in job creation.
The question is flawed to say the least. It requires a false assumption that politicians create jobs. That is just a load of B.S.
The profit motive creates jobs. End of story.

Hey, Freedom- are you gonna give back your socila security checks and turn down Medicare? Didn't think so! And I've always wondered how these are called "entitlement" programs when they actually "benefit" programs earned by our payroll taxes!!!

If you make it to social security age you get back more than you put in within a couple of years. There is no account with your $$$ earning interest etc. It takes something like 3 wage earners to pay for one payee. And it is getting worse. The SS system is broken. I for one, want out. Oh, thats right, I dont have that FREEDOM OF CHOICE. And neither do you.

So, jp, do you intend to continue to support one of these broken parties?

Both parties are sooooo wrapped up in their socialistic economic theory, neither will fix anything, but will succeed in prolonging this depression like FDR's prolonged the Great Depression. We desparately need to reduce gov't, fix the tax code. Our laws need to reflect the Constitution, not conflict it.

Neither of the old parties create jobs, they both grow government, which grows the insatiable need for taxation to fund all these "noble causes." We must revise the terms of entitlement programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, which threaten to bankrupt the nation's future. We must eliminate the costly and ineffective military interventions in Iraq and Afghanistan; limit defense spending to actions that truly protect the United States.

you had me right up until you said we should stop spending in the constituionally authorized area of national defense. If your point is that we should not be fighting middle eastern terror networks then I must disagree.
Other than that I agree with your post.

The warfare state threatens to bankrupt our country just as quickly as the welfare state does. Our national DEFENSE is authorized by The Constitution. To that extent, fighting terrorists and terrorism is appropriate. My point is that lots of money is wasted by programs near and dear to the respective parties' hearts. Neither party is willing to give on their golden goose, and both demonize the other for doing just that. We should fund ANY program with the pretense of "job creation."

[correction] we should NOT fund any program with the pretense of job creation.
