TX_BluesMan The Republican-controlled Legislature cut Medicaid reimbursements to doctors by a total of 2 percent in 2010 and 2011 and dramatically reduced payments for patients who qualify for both Medicaid and Medicare, the health care program for senior citizens.

woosterbullet, looks like there are many people better off based on the post here, guess you are typical of most t-publicans and just do not know how to manage your money.
If you do not want to pay your employees enough to keep them off of the welfare rolls in the first place then you have no business being in business.
we run a small business which used to hire 8-10 persons. We feel lucky now to make a machine payment, utilities, hire a secretary & 1 man. We never used credit for paychecks but have been in business for 41 years. Many of our competitors are laid-off by 100 persons -plus.Healthcare is coming, more taxes too.If any business comes we will hire contract laborers.About half of the US pays ZERO taxes.....suddenly we are the only ones we know who are paying taxes.Hmmmmm
Yes, I am. I have more money on my paycheck, pay less taxes than I did under Bush and the Republican Congress. My children in college are and my wife who has had cancer is and my daughter can now get a well womans check up every year without having to take out a loan.
NO.....I challenge anybody that say that they are!
Some of us may be better off, or at least desparately want to believe they are. But as a nation we are worse off. The recession has eased inspite of the admin.s attempts to worsen it. We are poised for hyper inflation, lose of social programs, elimanation of our rights and Constitution no matter which candidate is elected. The Fed could have avoided this in the late 90's but chose not to. Now they have no idea how to fix it.
Folks, read your basic government schoolbook again. According to the Constitution, the President has NO control over the deficit or any other spending. Congress does. Congress hasn't done anything to fix the problem & have no incentive to. They are all wealthy & have never had to struggle like the rest of us. Recent comments bear that out. If you really want change, fire all the Congressmen & start over. Send the message that partisanship will no longer cut it.
Through Quantitative Easing - (Federal Reserve printing of money), since 2008 the dollar has lost half of it's value when contrasted to Gold. The illusion of wealth (higher stock market, higher wages) is simply inflation. Since the president has no control over the private federal reserve and we don't elect the sec. to treasury then what economic policy of significance does a president have? Make a dollar worth a dime you get 10 times more, but you pay more tax by progressive tax plan.
My family is way better off then 4 years ago, our 401 had made back the loss from the bush years and almost everyone we know that WANTS to work has a job. The stock market is way up and the Mall in Tyler parking lot is always full with folks spending money. So I'd say a big YES... we are better off then 4 years ago.
Your 401K is worth less in value due to inflation. It looks like your wealth has returned, but that is simply an illusion of wealth. What good is getting back what you lost in '08, when everything costs twice as much in '12? Convert your 401K value to gallons of gasoline and compare '08 to '12. The reason the Mall is packed here is because we have an oil based economy which holds value in a world market price structure. Malls in the Northeast are not doing as well.

Don, you forget that you have already stated that you live on a pension in previous posts. You're just a democrat hack posting whatever you think will keep your socialist teet flowing.
Well, neither the Dems or the Repubs have anything to offer it looks like to me. Obama's Medicare cuts just got my mothers Remicade shots cut off. Doc said the last infusion will be her last because of that so she'll be bound for a wheelchair soon. I'm not happy about that. The Columbian Drug Cartels will continue to make tons of cash off the U.S. and the gang wars will continue at full throttle over drug turf because of the prohibition laws in place here. I'm still for Ron Paul, regardless.

■A Romney campaign ad wrongly claims that “money you paid” for Medicare is being used to pay for Obama’s health care law. But the law doesn’t take money out of the existing hospital insurance trust fund. It cuts the future growth of spending. And in the future, seniors will still receive more in benefits than they paid in.

Paul Ryan said President Obama “funneled” $716 billion out of Medicare “at the expense of the elderly.”
Ryan’s statement is exaggerated and we rate it Mostly False.

tX, IT WAS NOT OBAMACARE AS IT HAS BEEN FACT CHECKED BY ALL NONPARTISAN FACT CHECKERS AND FOUND TO BE FALSE THAT OBAMACARE CUT ANY FUNDS TO MEDICARE. THE FUNDS YOU SPEAK OF WERE FUNDS SAVED BY STOPPING FRAUD AND OVERCHARGES.
THE REPUBLICAN LEGISLATURE CUT FUNDING TO TEXAS MEDICARE AND MEDICADE BY 4% IN THE LAST SESSION IN 2011....RESEARCH IT
You are "A true American", who understands the economy and a dishonest government.
This is why people should never make flash judgements before doing the research...if you'd done your homework, you would have found out that the $716 million comes from cuts to PROVIDERS (hospitals, doctors, etc.) NOT from Medicare recipients. Gosh, I wish teavangelical right-of-right ultra-conservative repubs would stop listening to the bottom feeders who are disseminating lies to willing dolts who can't seem to go beyond the rhetoric on faux news, beck, rush, et al...you'd find out the truth!
Absolutely! But if it weren't for the obstructionist teavangelical party of "NO," everyone would be doing so much better. The mega-wealthy would feel compelled to pay taxes like the rest of us to a country that allowed them the opportunities that made them wealthy, jobs would come back to this country and we would once again have a strong middle class and economy, and the poor, ill, aged and very young would be cared for...unfortunately, we are not all in this together...the 1% don't see us.
