If you are still waiting for your tax return this year, odds are you are not alone. Due to Congress' fiscal cliff vote this past January, tax payers are now having issues filing due to last minute changes in the tax codes.
Reworking the codes has caused confusion with the IRS and now many papers are not even available for those filing. KETK spoke with local tax expert Maureen Parkhill who says if you are one of those with trouble filing, there are ways to be proactive about the problem, saying, "If you've waited twenty-one days and the IRS website says they're processing your refund, you can pick up the phone and call them and ask why."

While many have been confused by this paperwork, there are further problems on the horizon.
Since the filing date was moved to January 31 Maureen Parkhill tells us about some of the problems that will occur, saying, "It has created a tremendous issue, not only for people looking for their refund, but for the economy, because a lot of businesses gear their projections to tax refund time."

Parkhill also advices those having any problems to contact their local tax professionals for help and advising.
