A teacher has died in a stabbing at John Tyler High School.

52 year-old Todd Henry was killed this morning.

According to our reports, he was stabbed in the chest while trying to break up a fight between students.

Police say, a juvenile has been taken into custody.

Earlier today, we talked to some parents who say, it was only a matter of time before something like this happened.

"I have been calling, coming up here since the first day of school, that's how long it's been going on. We have had riots and fights ever since the first day of school."

The school says they now plan to change security measures to make sure an incident like this doesn't happen again.

Besides being a teacher, he was a music therapist, who worked with special needs students.

Why the heck r we having people n prison that we are suspecious about and then when when something like this happens we don't go straight forth to he death penality. We as a nation if we had some serious penalities we would NOT have this CRAP going on. Our children is worth more that the crap they see every day!!!!!! This is from a TROUP MOM our legal system is missing something obviously, is that teachiong our kids???? U dont like what goes on in school just stab them and we can get what we want NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a christian woman but we can not take this litely!!! What if he would have stabbed another student??? Would it have made a difference??????? We need to quit worring about FACIAL HAIR and start worring about the more important things we are missing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as a parent and as a TOWN TYLER, TX this is not right, we worryb more about the convicted than the people they HURT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to get the FULL STORY or any REAL news about Tyler, check out the metro section of the Dallas Morning News. They carry more information about Tyler each week than the news stations or newspapers here.

Being a former Tylerite, I have to agree that press coverage is limited as it pertains to the two high schools. Why can't the facts be published as they happened and why does the community not view this as a problem. We all can assign a scapegoat to the situation, but the big question is 'why was a student allowed to bring a weapon on campus in the first place'. A knife is just as deadly as a gun, razor blade, shard of glass, and the list can go on and on. The fact is someone dropped the ball and an educator is now deceased. Wake up Tyler, perhaps you are toxic on your "rose fumes" and need to breathe the air of reality from time to time. Thank God, we had the good sense and fortitude to move away...at least crime in the metroplex is reported and not sugar coated to protect the elitist group that seems to control what happens in your town. Does anyone also remember the well known doctor from Tyler who was caught in the sex sting in Murphy. That news was never printed in the local news, but did make the headlines up here. I am truly amazed! Let us all be very thankful that this incident did not escalate in to what happened at Columbine several years ago.

The point is the student stabbed the teacher and he died.

Well my comment is that i dnt think people should still be talking bout wat happen. Here at john tyler we haevent been talking bout this killing that happen it should have never happen but it did. His family is very sorry for wat had happen and so is john tyler students and teachers. I know this student cause im best friends with his older brother, his a really gud friend of mine. well aint nonthing els to say about the stabbing that happen here at jt?

It was a chest wound. Trust me on this one.

I blame the press. Why has there been no coverage of the violence that is taking place at John Tyler. Why has the press made that school "off limits" to report on? There are drugs on campus, weapons, gang violence, drunken football players getting off school sponsored trips, High faculty. And yet, Tyler pretends that everything is "rosy". The principal is out of touch. She does not even KNOW any of the staff. If anyone complains about the situation they are written up for insubordination. WHERE IS THE PRESS? or I should say WHERE WAS THE PRESS?

He was stabbed in the chest. Trust me on this one.

We have begged the press to get envolved with the violence and lack of security at the school. NONE of the news outlets or newspaper would touch it. IF the press had covered the gang fights and drug use, the drunken football players and the staff showing up high...... This could have been avoided. The press is what keeps this nation safe because it gives us a voice. But the press in Tyler remained silent and is a huge factor in Mr. Henry's death.

I thought they were just setting in the class room in a "normal setting" and not in a fight. And that came from the news conference......get your stuff straight!!

he was stabbed in the NECK .!

for thoes who want to brodcast stuff on the news mr.Henry was stabbed in the NECK not his chest. ! get stuff fight before you start being messy on the news && stuff. ! && yes I am a student at john tyler high school. this wouldnt of happend if the sucirety was never take out of the school. and they took them out so this is what happend. ! people swear tha JT is a BaD school, but yhu have to go to the school to be tha judge of that. everyone is not bad, some dont know that it's a time for everything.& as for mr.henry r.i.p. sir you will truly be missed.! && t.I.S.D SUCKks.!

AND I GUESS BECAUSE IT WAS SPECIAL ED. THAT THE PARENTS CAN SAY WELL MY CHILD HAS A PROBLEM AND DID NOT KNOW ANY BETTER THEN TO KILL SOMEONE???? OR THEY ARE A MINOR???

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Henry's family.
