The horrific shootings in Newtown, Connecticut generated many reactions.
And while there’s a lot of discussion about what, if anything needs to change, one East Texas man decided to take action…and help teachers.
While a lot of people think they have the solution to these tragic school shootings, Jim Lynch is practical.
Teach teachers to protect themselves and their kids.
Just off highway 20 in Van Zandt County on County Road 1308, is Tactical and Defensive of Texas.
Jim Lynch was a Dallas area cop for 20 years, and for the last 19 years, he has been teaching Concealed Handgun classes and other defensive instruction as well.
And like all of us, he was very moved by the tragedy in Connecticut in December.
And he decided, that if the Legislature and local School Boards allowed it, he would help teachers get their concealed handgun license.
“I thought about it,” Lynch told us. “In Connecticut, in a fleeting second, they tried to protect the kids. And we’re hoping that the state of Texas will let those teachers that want to go train, do whatever is necessary to give them a fighting chance.”
And he decided to do it, for free.
And the reaction has been overwhelming.
And Lynch has learned a few interesting things himself.
“They come with an open mind,” He says. “They come to learn. I find it easier to teach women than I do men. “

I am 100 percent behind them teaching shooters to shoot and having 'school marshals'.
This 'gun free zone' bull I feel has killed far more than it saved. Nuts don't care if it's illegal. Heck murder is illegal so why would a stupid 'gun free' sign stop them?
The only way to stop a madman is with a gun.
