Technology speeds up ticket-writing process for Longview police

If you get a traffic ticket in Longview, you may see something you’ve not seen before: new e-ticket writers bought for the Longview Police Department by the municipal court.

The e-tickets can be printed in English or Spanish at the press of a button.

The five handheld ticket writers, which cost the court more than $4,300 each, allow traffic officers to scan a driver’s license and vehicle registration for quicker and cleaner input.

“It’s pretty neat equipment,” said accident investigator Mike Grisham. “I like them a lot. It speeds some things up, information gathered from the violator.”
