Tennessee couple makes court appearance after child dies of soda, water punishment
A Tennessee couple made their first court appearance Friday in the death of the man's 5-year-old daughter.
Police say Randall Vaughn and his wife, Mary, forced the child to drink water and soda for at least an hour as punishment.
Alexa Linboom was found unresponsive and she later died.
An autopsy ruled that her death was caused by fluid intoxication.
Apparently, the large amount of water and soda she was forced to drink caused her brain to swell and herniate.
If convicted, the couple could possible face the death penalty.
