Texan goes on trial in suspected intruder's death

Prosecutors contend he shot man repeatedly as he ran away
San Antonio — The Associated Press is reporting; a 51-year-old San Antonio man has gone before a Bexar County jury charged with murder in the slaying of a man he suspected was an intruder in his house.
Testimony began Monday in the trial of Ray Lemes. Prosecutors told jurors Friday that he shot 19-year-old Angelo State University student Tracy Glass repeatedly as he ran away.
According to the San Antonio Express-News, prosecutor David Lunan said that removes "castle doctrine" protection from Lemes' actions.
His defense attorney, however, says Lemes had only seconds to respond after his wife awakened him.
Joe James Sawyer says Glass "is the architect of his own death" and Lemes "is guilty of nothing but protecting himself and his family."
