TYLER — $11 Billion is the shocking amount released by the Texas Attorney General's Office...it's how much Texans who are supposed to be paying child support...actually owe.
It's a number that's been building up for the past 30 years or so.
Today, KETK went to PATH (People Attempting To Help) and we found East Texan Carla Pettigrew. She has to go there to get groceries every now and then because she doesn't get any child support for the 4 grandchildren that live with her and her 2 kids.
"Where's the $11 Billion dollars that these children deserve? You know, they didn't ask to be brought into this world...but they were. And whoever brought them here should have to be made to be responsible to help at least take care of them," Pettigrew said.
A representative with the AG office says California is up to $19 Billion, built up over the same time period.
