Starting September 1, if you get pulled over in Texas you will be able to show the police officer your insurance via your smartphone.

"It saves a lot of trouble," said Kellie Underwood.

Underwood works at Bosworth and Associates Insurance Company and says it seems like a win for everyone. The insurance company, the police officers, and the drivers.

"It's a lot easier," Underwood said. "I mean we're in the age where everybody uses computers and email. It's just a lot easier to have it right there."

But not everyone is on board. Although police officers will be required to note the insurance on your smartphone by law, they would still like you to have the paper form.

"We don't want to damage your phone," said Don Martin, Public Information Officer for the Tyler Police Department. "And that's another distraction in his hands, so we still recommend that if they're going to show someone insurance that they have it in a paper form."
