Things are looking up for a dog that was tortured and abandoned in North Texas.

The four-year-old pug mix was found earlier this week and has since been named Hope.

Hope is part pug-mix, part example of just how cruel people can be.

"I've been here almost 11 years and I can say I think that I've seen the worst, but I will say this the worst that i have ever seen," says Karen Kessler from animal control.

Kessler helped find Hope.

Someone stretched out her tongue, taped her mouth shut with electrical tape and cut her a number of times.

Deep enough to puncture muscle.

Melanie Labrake who initially discovered Hope, didn't realize just how bad of shape she was in.

"She walked by me and she just looked up at me like help me. And I thought I don't even know what's wrong with you, but that's her tongue," says Labrake.

After 100 stitches and constant care vets say Hope will survive.

She's eating now but it's too soon to tell if Hope will be able to keep her whole tongue.

She's slowly being reunited with some of the 10 concerned citizens who sacrificed their day to save her.

Word is spreading, strangers have donated hundreds to help pay for vet bills.

And one woman in Louisiana is already asking to adopt her.

I rescue and this shows how sick human mankind has become. I hope whoever did this could get the same treatment in return, but what comes around does go around, trust me. Now, the next victim might be a kid or human, and here goes a psycho still out there. I hope God punishes you or you met a fate you deserve.
As for the animal, it survived a horrific and sick thing, but it survived. And it just goes to show you that mans best friend can overcome all odds .
I am glad this dog will get adopted .

How cruel. Just remember...what goes around - comes around. That person may get away with this awful crime, but they will have to one day meet their maker. I hope that this little baby heals physically and mentally. It will take a whole lot of TLC. If I lived in town, I would take that dog. I have always had a soft spot for rescues, all my babies have been hard luck cases. Make the best pets. Just need a Mommy!

Evil, just evil. poor dog, many thanks to the good people who saved her and contributed to her care

This breaks my heart!!! I just don't understand. To the lady in Louisiana who may adopt her " That really tugged at my heart". You are a wonderful person!! Thanks to all that was involved in her Rescue....<3
