TYLER - The Texas Forest Service is moving, we're told, in a three stage process.

Right now the focus is finding out just how many dead trees we have, then find out the cause of death.

Some say there is a bark beetle that could be killing some, but others say it was last years heat and that is the reason for dead tree explosion in East Texas.

Mark Zemer with Zemer's Tree Maintenance tells KETK, "By far, more dead trees, more of the red oaks, more of the big red oaks. The grand daddy red oaks, they just couldn't take the heat."
