IRVING, Texas (AP) - A weaker dollar and a crude oil price spike are blamed for a jump in retail gasoline prices in Texas and across the country.

The weekly AAA Texas gasoline price survey released Thursday found that a gallon of regular unleaded is selling for $2.68 per gallon, a nickel more than last week. The national average price rose a nickel to $2.86 per gallon this week.

The state's cheapest gasoline is $2.64 per gallon in San Antonio and Galveston, a nickel more than last week in San Antonio and 4 cents more in Galveston. The most expensive gasoline in Texas is $2.73 per gallon in Amarillo, up a nickel, and Texarkana, where it soared 11 cents from last week.

The auto club says gasoline prices are 15 cents higher than at this time last year, despite lagging demand.
