Texas ISD's will receive money from stimulus
February 23, 2009 - 7:18pm
EAST TEXAS-Although Texas may be turning down some stimulus money, it will be getting money promised for education. Strategic Partnerships, Inc. did the math to see how much each school district in Texas would get.
The numbers put out by the group are only estimates. The exact amount each local ISD will get won't be known until early March when state representatives plan to discuss the issue. The report says Texas will get about $4 billion for education and public schools. The money each ISD will receive will vary. The total money each district receives is divided into two areas where the money has to be spent. A part of the money goes towards anything benefiting economically disadvantaged children. The other is special education.

Taking money at the risk of bankrupting our country simple for a short temporary comfort is immoral. We have generations of Americans who fought and died for what we are blessed with. To prostitute our country for such short term goals is unthinkable. Every person who votes to accept this money needs to be replaced and term limits set. We never again need to have people obtain such power over us. Throw the bums out, and tell Gumby that he can be President of another country. Socialist and Marxist are not wanted here.

1 year agoHave you ever stopped to think that the attitude you have is a big reason why "Gumby" got elected in the first place? Many of us (over half the country) are very glad to some changes in Washington.
The very point of a stimulus is to spend money in the SHORT TERM to boost the economy in the LONG TERM. If the money isn't spent, it doesn't go into the economy where it is desperately needed. As a patriotic American I'd much rather see our tax dollars spent here at home on important infrastructure than wasted in Iraq.
You guys that are deeply entrenched on the far right need to wake up and see that the rest of the country is rejecting your old ideas. Bickering, name-calling, and extreme partisanship are NOT HELPFUL and the only way we will get out of this is if we work together. That means respecting and considering the opinions and ideas of those who might think differently than you.
