TYLER-Texas landlords may soon have to come clean about their property's past.
State Rep. David Liebowitz of San Antonio has filed a bill that would require landlords to disclose whether their property has ever been used as a lab to make methamphetamine.
Doctors say the contamination from the chemicals used to make meth can be a health hazard to those exposed to them, even if its years later.
Under the proposal, if the landlord fails to disclose the information, the tenant can actually terminate the lease and get a full refund on rent.
"People claim drug use is a victimless crime, but that's one case where its effecting people in a real way," Kenneth Marshall with Wright-Way said.
There is already a bill that does the same but for homebuyers.
