Texas officer killed in 2-vehicle collision
SAN ANTONIO —
A 27-year-old police officer is dead after a sport utility vehicle driven by a suspected drunken driver slammed
into her patrol car while going the wrong way without lights on a San Antonio freeway.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus says Officer Stephanie Ann Brown died shortly after the 2 a.m. Tuesday crash on Interstate 37 just northeast of downtown. Also killed was the driver of the SUV, 31-year-old Christopher David Baldaramos.
McManus says Brown was a three-year police veteran working a shift as a substitute for another officer and was responding to a reported officer in trouble when the crash happened.
Court documents show that Baldaramos was serving probation from a September "no contest" plea to driving while intoxicated.
