Texas RB Newton to give up football after injuries
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Texas coach Mack Brown says sophomore running back Tre' Newton is giving up football after a series of injuries.
Newton sustained a concussion in UT's 39-14 loss to Kansas State on Nov. 6 and did not play in last Saturday's 33-16 loss to No. 12 Oklahoma State.
Newton rushed for 229 yards and three touchdowns this season. Newton, who's the son of former Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Nate Newton, is expected to talk about his decision later Monday.
