In honor of the daily sacrifices made by the brave men and women in all branches of the United States military, Honor and Remember Texas Chapter will host the inaugural TEXAS Run For The Fallen, on Saturday Oct. 27th. A run walk, roll, family-friendly event that welcomes anyone with a patriotic spirit who wants to show support for Texas’ fallen heroes and their families who have served our country giving the ultimate sacrifice.

The goal of the TEXAS Run For The Fallen is to honor and remember Texas men and women who have lost their lives in our nations’ wars and conflicts, while paying tribute to their families, keeping the memory of our Texas Fallen soldiers in the hearts and minds of our citizens. We cannot and will not forget our young men/women who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

The event welcomes runners, walkers, and strollers ( 1K, 3K, 5K) of all ages to the historic Jasper County Courthouse in downtown Jasper, Texas. The event will start at Veterans Memorial on Main Street at the Jasper County Courthouse Square and will follow a posted route for 1K, 3K, and 5K participates. Participants will walk, run, or roll in memory of a service member they knew, or a service member can be assigned to them. Each participant will receive a card containing information about his/her military person.

The event begins at 7:00 a.m. Pre-Registrations will be accepted until Monday Oct. 15,. Registration fee is $20.00. The first 100 entries will be given a free event tee shirt. All participants will be assigned a Texas fallen soldier to honor for their run. Event Tee Shirts will also be available for sale at the event.

In 2008, a team of runners ran across America from Fort Irwin, Calif., to Arlington National Cemetery, one mile for every soldier, sailor, airman, and marine killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom. TEXAS Run For The Fallen
follows this honored effort and is slated to be an annual event sponsored by Honor and Remember Texas Chapter, headquartered in Jasper, Texas.
