Reservations for school trips on the historical 'Texas State Railroad' can now be made for the fall season. The trains will be making runs on the Friday's of September 12th, 18th and 26th. The train departs from Rusk Depot at 11 a.m and arrive back around 12:30. It's an interactive, educational way for kids to learn about the days of the Texas Railroad. Daycare, public, and private schools can all get discounted rates by booking trips early.

"The teachers seem to like it for the educational value. The kids... kids just love trains. The kids love it.  If we taught them nothing they would still love it, but they actually come away knowing more about trains and railroading and the turn table than they knew before they got here," said TSR's Janet Gregg.

She also said the trips sell out quickly, so it is better to reserve a spot sooner than later.
