CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (KIII) — A woman in corpus Christi, Texas, says she was held captive and tortured by a neighbor.
Christina Rohm displayed burns to her face, hands and legs. Burns she said she received by her own neighbor's cigarette, 26-year-old Ashley Rodriguez. Police stated it was Saturday when Rodriguez allegedly held Rohm against her will in the apartment right across from where Christina lives along the 3200 block of Reid off Alameda.
"If you think you're going to help a neighbor out just to be nice and stuff, don't do it," said Rohm.
Christina told authorities Rodriguez asked her to help pack moving boxes inside the apartment. That's when she claims Rodriguez accused her of taking her debit card. What happened next, Christina said she will never forget.
"She made me sit in that orange chair and said don't get up or you're dead. Then she went to the bedroom and got a roll of tape and sat there and taped my neck and my lips and wrapped it around all over my neck real tight," the victim said.
During that time, officers got a call from a concerned neighbor who said they had heard a woman's voice screaming for help. When police got to the apartment where the screams were coming from, Rodriguez answered the door and told police everything was ok.
The cop knocked at the door and she didn't want to answer the door. Police discovered Christina inside the apartment tortured and burned. Christina told police she had been held captive for over two hours. Neighbors were shocked by what happened.
Even though Rodriguez was arrested, Christina is still worried she might get out and come after her again.
