Texas woman killed after being hit by car in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE, LA — A woman from Austin, TX was killed after being hit by a car while she was walking down Nicholson Drive.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the accident happened at roughly 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30. When they arrived they found Debbie Gimberg, 27, lying in the roadway unresponsive.
Gimberg was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead as a result of her injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, Karimalita Russell, 30 of Baker, voluntarily submitted to a breath alcohol test, which showed no presence of alcohol in her system. No charged have been filed against Russell.
A toxicology test is being conducted on Gimberg by the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner. Investigators believe she was impaired and that may have contributed to the accident.
