The heat isn't the only thing to worry about

TYLER-We've talked this week about several ways the heat can be dangerous. But did you know that you're also at an increased risk for snake bites?

The high temperatures often draw snakes out from the ground in search for shade and water, experts said. They find what they're looking for quite often in backyard gardens.

Experts say snakes follow the food supply of animals and move closer to homes to find water during hot drought conditions.

One snake expert said using a garden hose usually does the trick to get rid of the snake.

Experts say poisonous snakes should always be handled by professionals. And until the weather cools down, snakes will continue to linger.
