The hidden autumn East Texas drought
Tyler, TX (KETK) — The lack of cold, rainy weather during this time of year may be a welcomed sight for many East Texans.
But for those in the Ag industry, it could be a sign of more difficult times to come.
Last year's summer time drought made national headlines, but unless you directly work in agriculture, you may not be aware of this hidden autumn drought.
The dry weather is also creating a more immediate problem.
The humidity and the high winds, combined with this dry climate poses possible fire dangers, and the lack of moisture in the grass, is just the fuel those fires need.
KETK spoke with Smith County rancher Hayden Moore to get his thoughts on this rain situation, and how he is preparing for the coming months.
