Ned E. Williams principal named as Texas’ best

The Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members is set to honor Ned E. Williams Principal Dr. Cynthia Wise as the Administrator of the Year at its annual education summit in Dallas.

Wise is principal at Ned E. Williams Elementary School and has held the post since the school opened its doors 2010. She was previously principal at Jodie McClure Elementary School, which ceased operation after Ned W. Williams was built as part of a $267 million bond election. Both campuses, under Wise’s leadership attained the Texas Education Agency’s Recognized status.

“We honor exemplary principals who set the pace and quality of the education children receive during their school years and who succeeds in providing high quality learning opportunities for all students,” organization and Longview ISD Board President Ted Beard said. “This makes Dr. Wise the perfect candidate for the 2014 TCBSBM Administrator of the Year.”

The group will present Wise with the honor on March 7, during the TCBSBM Education Summit Awards Dinner.

The Caucus was established in 1978 as an organization in which African American school board members could discuss the issues facing African American students, teachers and trustees themselves. The group in 1990 changed its name to the Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members.
