Tyler police officer hit by car on South Broadway while directing traffic

According to the Tyler Police Department an officer was hit by a car in the 5700 block of South Broadway Avenue while directing traffic stemming from another wreck.

The call came into dispatch around 6:10 p.m., Thursday night, regarding the official being struck in front of Ryan's Steakhouse in Tyler.

Officials say the Public Safety Officer was trying to direct traffic around another accident when a car hit him and threw him up on the hood. The officer reports being sore and has been taken to ETMC in Tyler. No other injuries were reported at the scene.
