The SPCA and "A Boy and His Dog", a pet and children's clothing boutique in Tyler's French Quarter Plaza, held a pet adoption event  just in time for Valentines day called "Paws for Kisses."

The SPCA charged one dollar for a kiss, and sold t-shirts to raise money for a new shelter they plan to build.

They also had six furry friends on hand, along with some adult dogs to adopt. All the animals from the SPCA are rescues from Smith County, and they plan to have more events like this in the future.

Debra Dobbs of the SPCA in East Texas tells KETK, "We have had lots of good applications, lots of interested families, lots of children getting kisses from puppies, which is great! So we're having a lot of fun and letting people know that we have great dogs that need homes, and try to encorage adoption instead of going out and buying a dog."
