Thieves steal over a dozen cases of frozen pizza
KILGORE - A break in at the Nestle Frozen Pizza Distribution Center in Kilgore early Monday morning left many scratching their heads.
"Not sure why anybody would steal pizza, that many pizza's what they would do with all of them unless they're really hungry," said Kilgore Police Captain Roman Roberson.
Experts say the thieves went to the back of the truck cutting locks off and making out with thousands of dollars of frozen pizza. The Digorno truck like many is refrigerated to keep the product cold. After they broke in, they began grabbing case after case of frozen pizza.
"About 16 cases of pizza were stolen out of the vehicle."
Were told after the crooks made off with the goods, they left the door open on the truck, leaving the rest to spoil. Making total damage, experts say, about $3500 worth of pizza.
KETK tried to speak with an employee of the business who declined to go on camera but did tell us they are hopefull the police will find the thieves. In the midst of the crime, police say there is one thing the crooks left behind already giving them an edge in the case of the stolen pizzas.
"We were able to lift some lateen prints I know."
What about the truck the thieves broke into? We're told not only is the truck back in commission with new locks, but it will soon be back doing what it's always done, dishing out the Digorno.
