NACOGDOCHES - In the past few weeks, there have been a number of shootings where a gunman aims to kill multiple people, without reason.

So when the threats came to Stephen F. Austin University, all precautions were taken.

Those three shootings paired with today's significance in campus shootings worried campus officials.

Today is the second anniversary of the Virginia Tech shootings.

Students and officials alike aren't sure if that's why the threat was made.

Campus officials say very few students saw the note because it was first reported by S.F.A. staff, and at the first sight of the fliers, staff took them down and got to work.

Officials say they gathered the emergency response team together to decide what steps to take.

Students received email alerts and alerts were posted on the website about the threats, but school was not closed down.

Officials say many students chose to go to class today.

All campus police officers were called in to patrol today with their cars and even on bike.

So the threats were taken seriously, and the person who did it will get a serious punishment.

"It could have been a hoax but we never ever consider it a hoax," Bob Wright says.

"We take this very seriously and when we catch the person, they're gonna find out how serious we're gonna get," says Marc Cosossich, Campus Police Chief.

There were also threats found at The Grove Apartments which are near campus, and many students live there as well.

We're told Nacogdoches Police patrols will be on scene there for 24 hours.
