Linden, Texas (KETK) — Good Shepherd Medical Center in Linden along with two family health centers announce $12 million dollars in operating losses is forcing them to close their doors.
The hospital in Linden and the family health centers in Linden and Hughes Springs will close April 30th.
The Linden hospital has been running since 2005, with an average of fewer than five patients per day and less than one patient per hour at the emergency room. Hospital officials say low number of patients in addition to Medicare and Medicaid cuts led to the hospital being unable to turn a profit.
Good Shepherd Health System operates facilities in Longview, Marshall and Atlanta.
The closures will affect 100 employees who are eligible to appy for positions at the other locations.
