The new high school football season will start in Tyler.

Gilmer will play Atlanta Thursday at Rose Stadium in the opener of the Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic.

Gilmer coach Jeff Traylor talked with KETK's Danny Elzner about his team's lack of experience going into this season.

Coach traylor said, "Our non-district schedule is only four games against four very good teams. We've got to grow up fast.  These kids expect to be great. We'll find a way to get it done. I don't know how of who will do it. But these kids have grown up here. It's all they've ever wanted to do. They'll find a way. We don't have the answers right now. But it seems to always work itself out. I'm sure it will again."
