As families gather for the holiday's to enjoy a nice turkey dinner, germs have a feast of their own.

Dr. Bryan Lowery from Trinity Clinic says, "this is the time of year that people are more closed quarters."

Dr. Lowery says, he's seen more patients recently and he attributes it to the holiday season and the cooler weather, "I would say we've definitely had a tick up in patients with upper repertory infections in the last couple of weeks since we have had the cold spells."

And more people are headed to the cough and cold aisle for halls, as they begin decking the halls. David Davis owns Good’s Medicine Chest in Tyler says, "We've seen an increase in our customers coming in."

Davis says he’s even had a number of employees call in sick lately. "Our corporate office I tried to get a hold of someone the other day and they had 12 of their 17 employees out sick with some sort of virus or illness."

Dr. Lowery says, wash your hands regularly wipe off surfaces to try and keep the germs, and bacteria from feasting on your immune system this holiday season. "wash your hands and keep your hands away from your face, that's probably one of the most important things you can do to keep you from getting sick,” Lowery says.
