Tyler — KETK Sports Director Danny Elzner went to TJC's first workout of the new football season Sunday morning.
But the Apaches did not use footballs.
Tyler Junior College used softballs, tennis balls and taped up towels instead.
"The first three days are for conditioning," TJC coach Danny Palmer said. "Only one workout can be used with a football."
"So we use softballs and tennis balls," Palmer added. "It really helps us because it makes you concentrate. The only way you can catch a softball or tennis ball is with your hands. So it's a really good technique."
