TYLER-- Tyler Junior College is now requiring students and faculty to wear name badges on campus. The tags are to show who is supposed to be on campus and who is not.
The wait to get the badges, however, is a line that lasts for hours. Some students even missed class today because of it.
Besides the ID badges, TJC is taking other safety steps. They have trimmed the bushes down so people can see over them, and more than 200 surveillance cameras have been installed.
Campus Safety Director Thomas Johnson says, "We actually had a drug bust last year here at TJC, and five of the six people weren't even TJC students." He says the ID badges have been available for two weeks. However, the overflow of late registration students caused the congestion.
If a student forgets his or her tags, he or she will be asked to leave class to get a day pass.

There is a LOT of crime on the TJC campus. The majority of it gets swept under the rug. I have read the police reports going back several years, I was AMAZED what has happened there and was never made public. The campus police are great, they have good response times and I am very glad they are there. The RA's do a good job of keeping the peace as well. When it is time for MY child to go to college, it will NOT be TJC,in my opinion it is NOT a safe place to be.
Question: What if the student gives someone their tag that isn't supposed to have one?
