TJC student identified in fatal wreck

TYLER — UPDATE 4:04 P.M. - Officials have identified the person killed in the accident as 19-year-old Randy DeShawn Smith of Groveton.
Smith was a student at Tyler Junior College.

UPDATE 5:58 P.M.: Authorities have confirmed 1 death and 3 injuries in the accident.
UPDATE 5:25 P.M.: Officials say an SUV, not a van as previously stated, that flipped was in the left lane on University when they tried to make a right turn. A car was in the SUV's blind spot to the right and they collided, flipping the SUV. The SUV then caught fire.
The fire is now out.
No word yet on injuries.

UPDATE 5:11 P.M.: A KETK reporter says 2 fire trucks are on the scene and the University Drive is shut down.
Fire officials expect the road to be shut for a while.
The vehicle that caught fire is a silver GMC van.

A vehicle is ablaze on University Drive and Patriot near the UT Tyler campus.
It is unclear at this time if anyone is injured.
