TJC students help make an ultimate wish come true
Tyler. Texas — One leadership class at Tyler Junior College has come together with the Texas Northeast chapter of the Make a Wish Foundation to help grant the ultimate wish of one child.
3 year old Avian Stokes, was diagnosed with bilateral optic nerves biomass, meaning he has large tumors behind his eyes and could go blind, or even lose his life.
The leaders from TJC have rallied together to make Stoke's final wish of meeting his hero, Mickey Mouse, come true.
Darian Russell, a TJC sophomore says and leader of this project says, "Him being able to meet Mickey Mouse and having one of his dreams come true that something that motivates us."
Russell and her classmates from the business leadership class at TJC have been fundraising for months; selling bracelets on campus that read: "You granted a wish" for a dollar a piece. The students have also had a bake sale and a car wash to help meet their goal of raising at least $10,000 for Avian's wish fund.
The TJC students are having a final fundraiser and collecting clothing and other donation in boxes around the school's campus.
Items are being accepted at the Wagstaff Gym until Friday.
There will be a yard sale on campus near the football field on November 17th. All of the proceeds from the sale will go to the Make a Wish Foundation to help Avian get to Disney and meet his hero, Mickey.
