Toddler dies, physical abuse suspected

Tyler Police Investigators have charged the mother to Jeremy Silva for Abandoning or Endangering a Child, a State Jail Felony. The mother is identified as Emma Torres, H/F, 06/10/1991, of Tyler. Torres had left her two children ages one and four alone in her residence while her boyfriend had taken her to work in Lindale, Texas this morning.
The investigation continues and further details will be released as they develop.
Tyler Police responded to a local hospital at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, to investigate the death of a one-year-old Hispanic male child.
The child was picked up at his residence located in the 100 block of N. Ross and transported to the hospital by his aunt. The child showed signs of physical abuse and was pronounced dead on arrival by emergency room personnel. Tyler Police Investigators were called to the hospital to investigate the incident. The victim was identified as Jeremy Silva, of Tyler.
The cause of death has not been determined at this time. An autopsy has been ordered that will be conducted at Southwest Forensics in Dallas.
