Toddler's death update: KETK speaks to family attorney and Child Protective Services

Tyler, TX — The investigation into the death of two-year-old, Jacob Kimbley, is underway. The toddler's body was discovered in a septic tank in a wooded area near the toddler's house on Wednesday. According to Justice of Peace, Judge Mitch Shamburger, the body was taken to Dallas and autopsy results are expected at the end of the week.
KETK has confirmed that the death is being treated as a homicide. Smith County District Attorney, Matt Bingham, tells KETK all cases like this are treated as homicides unless evidence proves otherwise.
Bingham also says, "Everyone is considered a "Person of Interest." He says, they are looking at everyone including Jacob's parents.
KETK spoke to the family attorney, Reeve Jackson, about how the Kimbley family is doing, he says they are extremely sad.
Child Protective Services tells KETK, the children are in CPS custody and are placed in Foster Care and that they are doing fine. CPS is still gathering information and will speak to the children about what took place at their home.
