The speed limit on Loop 49 in Tyler will increase from 70 to 75 miles per hour from Highway 155 to Interstate 20, according to the Northeast Texas Regional Mobility Authority.

It will be a few weeks until the new speed limit is implemented as the commission needs to get the new speed limit signs created and posted along the toll road.

Minimum speed limits of 10 miles per hour lower than the posted speed limit will be put in place for the 155 to I-20 segment. This will also be implemented for Highway 110 to 155 and from Texas 110 to Texas 155, due to some drivers getting stuck behind slower moving cars on the single-lane highway.

People already drive WAY TOO fast on this loop and pass cars endangering everyone! Now they are going to drive even faster. I could maybe understand if this were a 4-lane roadway, but it is NOT. Also, there are not enough guardrails. I have enjoyed the time saving element this has created for me, but now I'm not sure it's worth risking my life!

people already get on there and drive 60 mph....shouldn't they get ticketed for driving too slow for those that are paying to drive the speed limit?

Speed trap in the making at the SH155 intersection ???
