A transgender substitute teacher says she has been told she should not return to her classes after parents complained about her.

Laura Jane Klug, who was born Kurt Klug, worked as a fifth grade substitute teacher at Lumberton Intermediate School in Lumberton, Texas but was asked not to return after some of the students' parents contacted the school.

Klug says she met with a representative of Lumberton Independent School District's Human Resources and Superintendent John Valastro Tuesday afternoon and was suspended her pending a decision by the school board on whether to continue using her as a substitute teacher.

Klug said that she has substituted at the school without any issues before and she's unsure what instigated the outrage.

"I have always conducted myself in a professional manner and would never discuss my gender identity in school," Klug said.

rat, you are lame, crude, stupid, and so much more. He is not a he...because of a fluke of nature/biology at birth, parents of children who have male/female sex organs have to choose which gender they will adopt to raise that child...later in life, as the person matures, they can often feel as if they should be the opposite sex and choose to make the decision to become the gender that will make them feel is not an easy choice, but one that completes them...your ignorance is showing.

If her job performance is not an issue than she should be hired.
The personal prejudices of a few parents should not dictate school policy.
If the few parents have an issue they have options they can exercise.
The majority of parents back her or really don't think it's a big deal anymore.
The few parents could get some education around gender identity and maybe their eyes will be opened to the reality of a generally known medical condition.
Stop discriminating against and stigmatizing people!

Yeah, because every teacher that is ever ridiculed has obviously no credibility. Like every teacher you and I made fun of, crouching outside the classroom in secret. You know we mocked any teacher we could, it's the way of children. To equate that with "making teaching ineffective" is a reach, and it falls short. I have a child, and I would want someone who wishes to be a teacher instructing her, regardless of his or her orientation or gender identity.

Lumberton Independent School District will be paying out the @** on this deal. Get ready for the tax increase.

Yup,maybe they have more $$ than brains in Lumberton.

He is quite cute for a guy. He has obviously discussed his gender identity/or/lack of such, with someone with connections to the school. He will now be the subject of scorn and ridicule by students and parents alike. That may bring about a lack of credibility and make his teaching ineffective. I would not condone this hiring by the ISD.
