The patent infringement jury trial of Ambato Media LLC vs. Clarion Co. Ltd, et al begins at 8:30 a.m. today in the United States District Court, with U.S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap presiding.
Ambato filed the suit against the Japan-based company and several other leading vehicle navigation device manufacturers, including Garmin and Nextar, claiming the companies infringed its “Television Receiver Location Identification” patent.
Issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on July 11, 1995, the patent relates to products that let users obtain specific information about their location.
In the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendants have infringed the patent by making, using or selling and/or offering for sale navigation devices able to receive and display traffic, weather or points of interest information.
