Troup police chief alleges Larry Smith isn't being honest about his record

UPDATE: Larry Smith met with KETK on Friday and brought documents pertaining to the case Chief Henderix is referring to. We'll have his response tonight on KETK News at 5 & 6.
TROUP - The Troup Chief of Police says Larry Smith, who is running for Smith County Sheriff, is not being honest about his record.
Pat Henderix used to be a Smith County Sheriff's Deputy, and he tells KETK, Larry Smith recently claimed he worked a capital murder case back in 1999.
The only problem is, Chief Hendrix, who was the lead investigator for Smith County in the case says, he doesn't remember Smith taking any part in it. In fact, he tells us, he's put in an open request with Smith County which says nothing about Smith's involvement in the case.
Chris Green used that information when debating Larry Smith and that's when he says, Grassroots America We the People got involved.
"I'm the one that told Chris Green that Larry Smith wasn't there. Chris Green uses that at the next debate, at I believe a Grassroots of America debate and then May the 18th I get this nasty letter saying that Mr. Green made false allegations that he was actually there and he investigated it. We'll I'm here to say as the lead investigator, 20 year veteran of the Sheriff's office, member of the FBI task force when I was there, US customs task force, US Marshals Task Force, homicide investigators association that all the evidence I have, Mr. Smith was not there."

I don't know about you, but I don't want ANYONE that had a part in that massacre running Smith Co!! He has their blood on his hands!! Yet he STILL believes Waco was good!! WAKE UP! Chris Green is the one!

Whoa! So we're going to attack Hendrix, now - the lead investigator on the case who merely stated that Smith, despite his claims, was not in the lead on the case in any way? I think he would know, and even Bingham and Steen aren't jumping out there to defend his story. What we have here is a FEDERAL guy, overstating his credentials, supported by an organization leadership claiming to be conservative, but supporting a FED. I've seen the proof. They vetted no one!!! Shame on you Fleming!!
Larry never said he was the LEAD on the case-- he only said he WORKED the case! geez, where do you people get your information?!? Did you watch the same news story that I did?!?
I find it funny how Channel 56 backs Chris Green every chance they get. For 56, Court Documents are not good enough, they would rather take the word of a corrupt Hendrix whom Green has promised a chief deputy job to. Green was transferred out of Hopkins county and made the same mistakes in Smith which is why he has never been promoted. Do a little digging! Hendrix knows about it, see if he can remember...

Oh, and by the way - both Chris and Smith wanted to hire Hendix because he is a great investigator who does a good job - so let's be sure we are sure of our facts first - OK?

Please stop lying about things!! Green got a commendation in Hopkins County! You need to check facts before you get on here and start spouting incendiary comments!
Funny you should mention that because The Tyler paper has publicly endorsed Smith. It's obviouse that you have not taken your own advise! If you would have done " a little digging", you would know that Chris transferred to Smith County voluntarily NOT disciplinary as you suggest. The reason that Chris has not been promoted is because there is very little opportunity in the agency. When there is, it usually requires one to pick up and move their family. He chose not to!
2010 DPS Crime Statistics show that crime has reduced each year Mr. Hendirix has been Chief of Police. Get your facts straight before you attempt to malign someone's character.
Chris Green and his supporters will stoop to new lows to get the attention off his rather lackluster career as a game warden. He had posted on his FB account an invitation to join him at a club, then he would provide a ride to the voting booths, and, then celebrate at another club after that. Sounds like he, or one of his supporters, was trying to "buy" votes!! He has done nothing but complain and bad mouth Larry since he started running for sheriff. Larry is the one for sheriff!

Oh, really?This is not buying votes-it's encouraging people to get out there and vote.Not something every single candidate shies away from and I think you will find (if you bother to look) that Smith has done some of the same things. Could we please stick to issues? Like the fact that Smith has his loyalty to the ones who pay his pension - THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT!! Which is why The CONSTITUTION SHERIFF, Richard Mack, HAS ENDORSED HIM!! As well as the CSPOA - look it up!
Since your so full of facts, what was the name of the club? There was nothing posted on his FB page about a club! His campaign was offering rides to the poles so they could excersize that right. If you think that Larry Smith has not taken shots at Chris, you need to get your head of the dirt. He and his coolaid drinkers has taken shots at Chris before the race ever started. Larrys followers have hired PI's to dig into his personal life to dig up dirt. But it didn't work!
@ Clakley: You have to be joking right? Chris Green used relevant "CORRECT" information provided to him. If Smith has skeletons in his closet then thats his fault, not Green's. There was never any poster refering to partying afterward and a "Club". Where do you get your information. Provide proof or silence youself. Btw, Im a fb friend so I would have seen it. In closing, I wouldnt vote for Smith for one simple reason... He cant control his family, what makes you think he can control a county?

And of course, we trust the word of Hendrix, who does not serve the community as he should. Since his arrival, the Troup PD has developped a rotten reputation, much like Whitehouse had some time ago.
Hendrix should remember that he is in Troup as a "Servant" of the people, not a violater of the same.
Sad day for Troup when he arrived! DAM!
