Tryouts continue for historic 75th Kilgore College Rangerettes
Kilgore — No matter the outcome Friday of the 75th Kilgore College Rangerette tryouts, some “hopefuls” say they have earned a lifetime of memories and lessons.
The Rangerette Gym was packed Tuesday with 84 women, referred to as “hopefuls,” practicing for the final tryouts Thursday for the college’s high stepper squad.
“I knew in the sixth grade when I attended my first Rangerette camp that I wanted to do this,” said hopeful Katie Parkhurst, 18, of Longview. “I was on the drill team at Pine Tree High School and I’ve taken ballet, jazz, modern dance and point classes.”
Kilgore graduate Morgan London, 18, also said her desire to become a Rangerette began while attending the squad’s summer camp.
