A Smith County house was destroyed after crews battled a fire that broke out early Tuesday morning.

The blaze started around midnight in the 10,000 block of Lakeshore Drive in Chapel Hill. The family of three safely escaped, but everything they owned was consumed by flames. Fire crews from Chapel Hill, Arp, Whitehouse, Jackson Heights and Smith County all responded. The cause is still under investigation.
