Like most high school seniors, Shelby and Emily Gibbs anxiously get ready for one of the greatest mile stones in their life...high school graduation. "Its finally over, its finally here...relief," said the duo.

However, these girls aren't like the rest, they're the first set of twins to graduate top of their class at West Rusk High School. Their mom, Leigh Gibbs says academics was a top priority in their home. "We're very proud, they worked very hard, they deserve it, and we're thrilled for them," said Leigh. She said their eyes were always on the future because, "college was really, really important to us, for our family, because their father and I did not complete college."

This was only more motivation for Shelby, the valedictorian, to help Emily climb from 10th in the class to salutatorian. "I didn't think I'd be able to do it, but she helped me a lot, and we studied together, and had study groups," said Emily.

However, that doesn't mean there wasn't sibling rivalry. "At the beginning I was really pushing her to do better and get up there, but then it kind of became a competition," said Shelby. Emily then added, "if I got a better grade on something then she would get a little mad."Through competition came success, and Friday night, in cap and gown, they will receive their diplomas. "I will be fighting the tears, but I'm very, very excited for this new chapter in their life," said Leigh.

Shelby will be going to SFA majoring in Kinesiology, and Emily will be going to Kilgore College for photography. When we asked if they'll miss each other, in true twin fashion they said in sync, "maybe a little!"
