SMITH COUNTY-- Smith County Sheriffs say a husband and wife were found shot to death inside a home on the 5300 block of County Road 334. They got the call just before 3:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

Justice of the Peace Mitch Shamburger tells us 71-year old Bonnie Hays and her husband 68-year-old Billy Hays were the two found dead in their home.

Smith County Sheriff's deputies were called to the home early Monday afternoon to investigate a burglary and assault from two weeks ago. The deputy left the scene to complete his report, and an hour later, he got a call from the couple's son inside the home saying the two were dead.

Both bodies will be sent off for autopsy. Smith County Sheriffs are still investigating.
